At the La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Practice of Dr. John Smoot, Dr. Wendell Smoot, and Dr. Richard Chaffoo, we understand that every person's aesthetic goals and needs are different. Patients who would like to dramatically and permanently enhance their appearance may choose a cosmetic surgery procedure such as rhinoplasty or blepharoplasty. For those who are not ready for surgery, or who need only moderate rejuvenation, techniques such as microdermabrasion are available at our practice serving San Diego. Skin care treatment is overseen by our in-house licensed esthetician, Carol Volk.

Serum-enhanced Microdermabrasion – $90 per treatment
Approved by the FDA in 1977, microdermabrasion is a great alternative to chemical or laser peels. Microdermabrasion is wonderful for treating skin damaged by the bright San Diego sun, as well as skin with fine wrinkles, acne, superficial age spots, or a dull finish.
Serum-enhanced microdermabrasion can help diminish imperfections and sun damage with minimal risk, discomfort, and down time. Many women (and men, too) have postponed treatment for minor skin problems such as sun damage, acne scars or fine wrinkles because they are nervous about having a chemical or laser peel. The Derma Genesis® DermaPeel™ system is the safe, painless alternative, and produces smoother and softer skin from the very first treatment.
Using microscopically abrasive crystals under highly controlled pressure to gently remove damaged cells from the outer layer of your skin, a DermaPeel™ treatment takes only 40 minutes and patients don't need to schedule any time off for recovery. Most patients need three to ten treatments. Four to six treatments are recommended to start. To maintain the results of serum-enhanced microdermabrasion, it is suggested that San Diego patients return once a month thereafter.
